SafeCon Consulting Group, well known for their superior quality safety training and operational risk management services for almost 10 years, is adding a Storm Water Management Group to help clients comply with the new NPDES General Permit that took effect July 1, 2 010.

Founding SafeCon Principal, Sam Iler, stated that “Anyone who has reviewed the new permit understands that the requirements have increased dramatically and really require some professional assistance to be in compliance”.  SafeCon’s new Storm Water Group will be headed by Donald Sturgeon, CPESC/CPSWQ , whose professional designations meet the new permit requirements.

“Some of the requirements can only be met by someone with Don’s qualifications,” Iler said.  “There are WEEKLY inspection requirements during the rainy season (beginning October 1).  An inspection must be performed at least once every 24 hours during extended storm events.  This all adds up to an increased number of inspections along with new water sampling and testing requirements.  There is also a new online reporting system,” stated Sturgeon. “I’m excited to join the SafeCon family and expand the list of quality services that we provide”.

In addition to writing SWPPP programs and providing inspection and sampling services, SafeCon will be providing training required under the permit. All key personnel and everyone “involved with the implementation” of the SWPPP are required to have annual training. In addition, SafeCon plans to offer training that meets the Cal-Trans 24-hour requirements, along with prep classes designed to ready client personnel to meet the NPEDS QPC requirements.
