Meet Our Founder
SAM ILER, lead expert witness and the founder and principal of scgXperts llc, has more than 35 years of industry experience. To provide a credible, definitive, and demonstrable account of the technical information required to achieve the resolution of a dispute, Mr. Iler makes use of his decades of knowledge in construction and job site safety.
Mr. Iler is a licensed General Contractor (CA) with over 35 years of construction experience from tradesman through contractor, has earned a Business Degree, and holds the professional certifications of CHST, CSHM and NCCCO Crane Operator/Examiner.

Mr Iler holds a General Building Contractor’s License (#1106146), and formerly a C-29 (masonry) license. He has successfully constructed multiple projects in California, and is well versed in the CBC.
OSHA Representation
Mr Iler has represented employers that have received OSHA citations to assist them in preserving their Appeal Rights, and clarifying the technical aspects of the case during pre-appeal hearings and conferences. In addition, Mr Iler has served in various roles on more than a half a dozen OSHA Advisory Committees, involved with crafting and analyzing proposed regulatory language.

Areas of Expertise
While Mr Iler covers a range of subject matter pertinent to his areas of expertise, he does have areas of hands-on personal experience and particular case focus in these areas.
Forklift
Mr Iler has owned and operated a wide variety of forklifts over his career, and has consulted on dozens of forklift cases.
Fall Protection
Mr Iler has designed, installed, and used a vast array of fall protection systems and equipment, and has acted as both a “Competent Person” and “Qualified Person” under the OSHA definitions regarding fall protection utilization.
Cranes
Mr Iler has owned and operated cranes as part of a NCCCO based crane operator training and certification school that he founded. Mr Iler has contributed to the OSHA regulatory process on both the State and Federal Levels regarding crane operator certification regulations.
Rigging and Signalperson
scgXperts llc has trained and certified hundreds of riggers and signalpersons throughout the years, and Mr Iler has been involved in training and certify them for over a decade.
Scaffolding
Mr Iler grew up building scaffolding, and has owned and built multiple types of scaffolding throughout his career, and he has consulted on dozens of scaffold related cases.
OSHA
Mr Iler has been an instructor at OSHA Training Institute (OTI) for UCSD with specialties in Forklift, Fall protection, and Scaffolding, and has held his OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 instructors credentials.
